A “QUICK!” Review of “Agatha All Along (2024)”

I ended up missing this series when it came out because I wasn’t very interested in a show on the character of Agatha despite enjoying her appearance in WandaVision. After finally getting around to watching it, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the series ended up being.

Kathryn Hahn continues to be a delight as Agatha Harkness. She continues to be a wicked character that none of the others, including the audience, can fully trust. I do like that Kathryn is also given a chance to show different sides to the character as well.

The rest of the supporting cast and new witches introduced are also great additions. The party have a fun and chaotic chemistry that works well on-screen. One of the best episodes is on one of the supporting Witches whose powers cause them to experience time in a non-linear fashion. That episode was great as we see it from her POV and how scary and frustrating it can be to jump all over the place in time.

This show is VERY CAMP though and there are a lot of musical moments which might not be everyones thing. It does drag and get a bit repetitive around the middle as well. The antagonist group, The Salem Seven, is also wasted.

However, the writing, the exploration of the supernatural side and the mystery aspect of this show will definitely keep you captivated with the show. It’s a great sequel to WandaVision and I am looking forward to the final one in the trilogy with VisionQuest!

A “QUICK!” Review of “Spy × Family Code: White (2024)“

This movie is two hours of Spy X Family goodness! Everything you love from the show is in here: the fun family slice-of-life dynamic, the ridiculously fun comedy with wacky goofiness from lovable daughter Anya, the suave spy action from Loid, and badass fight action set pieces from Yor. The animation is mostly similar to the show, but there are moments in the final act where the animation is glorious! However, the story isn’t really much to write home about and the villain is very "underbaked” (pun intended). Overall, this is a very fun movie set in the Spy X Family universe. If you love the show, you’ll love the movie.

A Review of “Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)”

Jurassic World Rebirth is somehow the seventh entry in the Jurassic franchise. After the massively disappointing and downright abysmal Jurassic World Dominion (2022), it felt like time to let the franchise rest. However, considering it made over $1 billion, the studio was never going to let it die, and now we have another installment. The only redeeming news, in my opinion, was that Colin Trevorrow was no longer involved. Instead, we have Gareth Edwards, director of Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). So, does this bring new life to the franchise, or should it have remained extinct? To start with the positives: the dinosaur set pieces are genuinely enjoyable. There’s a horror-movie-style sequence in the opening, a thrilling Jaws-like moment involving the Mosasaur at sea, and a fun finale set piece that echoes the spirit of the original film. A “QUICK!” Review of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)”

Rewatching the trilogy again, this entry manages to not fall into one big problem the MCU has. The lack of colours. MCU movies are notably dull or grey but not GOTG2. The vibrancy of the colours makes this one of the most visually pleasing movies to watch. This movie also has some nice neat moments such as the Yondu and Rocket “You’re like me!” conversation and the moment where Mantis felt Drax’s sadness. It does have a weaker plot though with 3 different ongoing plots that seem to be happening at the same time. These plots are barely connected and only get stitched together right at the end. Nevertheless, the cast is still phenomenal and the action set pieces are still enjoyable to watch. The soundtrack is great with one of the best opening use of Mr Blue Sky in cinema history. A great sequel!
