A Review of “Supergirl (2026)”

I enjoyed Superman (2025), even though there were some definite flaws with the film. Still, I thought it was good start to the new soft-rebooted DC cinematic universe. Now, we have the next entry with Supergirl which was based on the phenomenal comic ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" by Tom King which I adore. Is this another step forward for the DCU or a sad step back? Let’s talk about the new actress to play Supergirl, Milly Alcock. I think she does a great job as she is incredibly fun and charismatic as Supergirl. She also really delivers on the more jaded, pained and the slightly quirky nature to the character. There are some emotional moments concerning her past and Milly gives a strong performance that really sells it. The surprise stand-out though is Jason Momoa as Lobo. People have been fan casting Momoa as Lobo for years, including the actor himself. I can safely say that he is absolutely terrific! He is perfect casting and steals every scene he is in by emb...

A “QUICK!” Review of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)”

It was basically 90 minutes of the “Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme” for the whole runtime. No character development for any of the characters, unfocused and minimal story, unimaginative writing with no depth. At least they used more songs from the Mario games instead of pop songs so at least there is one improvement!

A “QUICK!” Review of “Zootopia 2 (2025)”

I was worried when they announced a Zootopia sequel. Judy and Nick already felt like they had a complete character arc in the first film. Those concerns turned out to be unfounded, as the sequel really delivers on their relationship. Even though they had become a solid team and close friends by the end of the previous film, relationships always have bumps and cracks. Judy and Nick care about different things, which leads to meaningful conflict and growth between them. Additionally, the film continues its social commentary on race, introducing reptiles into the mix in a way that works very well within the Zootopia universe. An excellent sequel that feels like a natural evolution of the franchise!

A “QUICK!” Review of “The Mandalorian”

Season 1 An excellent original series in The Star Wars universe! Cool new characters with a very Western-inspired feel to the setting. Great cinematography, music score, set designs and action set pieces that make this some of the best to come out of Disney Star Wars. This is the Way!   Season 2 Season 2 continues to deliver on what made the first season great. However, it unfortunately is a bit of a step down due to one big reason. It tries to connect with every other Star Wars projects. It introduces characters from the movies and the animated shows such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Thus, some the episodes just feel incredibly odd because these characters from the show are getting a spotlight over the main character. It just makes the galaxy feel incredibly small. Fortunately, the writing is still excellent and there are some stellar moments with one of the most epic final episodes in a Star Wars show!     Season 3 Similar to The Book ...

A “QUICK!” Review of “One Piece Season 2: Into the Grand Line (2026)”

Season 2 continues to deliver as a faithful adaptation of the manga by bringing all the iconic stories and scenes to life. It was incredibly wonderful to see! There are also some nice changes, such as teasing early plot points that have been revealed in the current manga, showing Zoro’s fight against 100 agents on-screen, and giving Vivi and Baroque Works more to do. I was worried about how they were going to handle Chopper, but that worry was unfounded because he looks terrific! Likewise, the casting of every supporting character, such as Vivi and Robin, is just perfect. Season 2 is simply fantastic. I genuinely cannot wait to see how they will adapt the Alabasta arc in Season 3!

A Review of “Stranger Things Season 5 (2025)” (SOME SPOILERS!)

Who knew that a series in 2016 about a group of very larger-than-life characters dealing with weird things in their town would be the start of such a phenomenal show? It has been three years since the jarring cliffhanger of Stranger Things Season 4, and the show is now coming to an end with its final season. Will it stick the landing, or will it unfortunately become another Game of Thrones situation? In terms of what this season does well, I enjoyed that Will actually has a lot more to do. Despite being a very important character in Seasons 1 and 2, he sort of had little to nothing to do in Seasons 3 and 4. He also has a proper bonding moment with Robin that I genuinely enjoyed and found very heartwarming. Jonathan was a character butchered in Season 4 by turning him into a lame pothead. His and Nancy’s relationship seemed to be in trouble, but this season actually gives their story a nice resolution. The moment where they finally communicate honestly about their r...

A Review of “Predator: Badlands (2025)”

Dan Trachtenberg successfully brought life back to the Predator franchise with Prey (2022) and followed it up with another strong entry, the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers (2025). Now, he returns with yet another fresh spin on the series, this time putting the Predator front and centre as the main character. But does this new take deliver, or is it a step too far? The biggest question going in is whether a Predator can truly work as a main character. I can confidently say it does! The Predator, named “Dek” is an outcast for being a runt. His Yautja clan believes he should be killed for his weakness, so he vows to prove himself by hunting the unkillable beast known as the Kalisk. This classic underdog setup makes Dek instantly sympathetic, we want to see him succeed and prove everyone wrong. His journey also doubles as a compelling coming-of-age story as he learns what it truly means to be an Alpha Predator. While the plot follows a familiar formula, it’s...

A Review of “Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)”

Jurassic World Rebirth is somehow the seventh entry in the Jurassic franchise. After the massively disappointing and downright abysmal Jurassic World Dominion (2022), it felt like time to let the franchise rest. However, considering it made over $1 billion, the studio was never going to let it die, and now we have another installment. The only redeeming news, in my opinion, was that Colin Trevorrow was no longer involved. Instead, we have Gareth Edwards, director of Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). So, does this bring new life to the franchise, or should it have remained extinct? To start with the positives: the dinosaur set pieces are genuinely enjoyable. There’s a horror-movie-style sequence in the opening, a thrilling Jaws-like moment involving the Mosasaur at sea, and a fun finale set piece that echoes the spirit of the original film. The standout set piece, however, is easily the tense and terrifying T-Rex scene involving a raft. Scarle...
