A “QUICK!” Review of “The End of Oak Street (2026)”

This film has some fun Dinosaur set pieces, great visuals and music score by Michael Giacchino that are reminiscent of 90s Spielberg, and an amazing performance by Anne Hathaway. It is just everything about the script that really brings this film down. The characters are one-dimensional while making constant illogical decisions, the kids are borderline unlikeable, and the final act is JJ Abrams levels of nonsensical (which is funny because he is a producer on this!) that raises so many questions. I wanted a film that does better than the Jurassic franchise but instead is just as dumb.

A “QUICK!” Review of “War of the Worlds (2025)”

I kid you not, there is a scene where they use a drone courtesy of Amazon Prime Air and said drone crashes near homeless man who will only help if he is given a $1000 Amazon gift card. A film by Amazon everyone!

A “QUICK!” Review of “Flow (2024)”

Flow is a uniquely captivating animated movie by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis. The movie is entirely dialogue-free as our main cast is entirely animals who have to unite after a flood devastates their home. Even without dialogue, the story is straightforward to follow and the character (animal?) arcs are conveyed incredibly well. There is a wonderful theme of unity and connection. I also love all the mysteries within this world that are up to the viewers’ interpretation. The animation is a perfect blend of realism and a painting art style. There is diligent care for the animals as they move and behave like they would in real life. The fact that this was all made in Blender is astounding! The music score is also wonderful. This is an easy recommendation for everyone. It is mesmerizing and easily one of the best movies in 2024.

A “QUICK!” Review of “Twisters (2024)“

Twisters is a standalone sequel to Twister (1996). It being standalone, is actually quite a blessing as we don’t get the blatant fan service you would expect from these legacy sequels. This movie knows exactly what it is meant to be, a fun over-the-top summer blockbuster and it succeeds at it. The main leads played by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell who have a fun chemistry. Glen Powell’s character is the douche archetype at the beginning but gets a surprising amount of depth. The actual tornado scenes are exciting to watch and are decent visually. Unfortunately, The plot is very predictable and none of the other characters are remotely interesting. However, the movie is still fun to watch and I enjoyed it.
