  Ryan Coogler is an incredibly talented director! However, since his powerful debut with Fruitvale Station, he hasn’t made an original film, focusing instead on franchise hits like Creed and Black Panther. While those movies were great, it always felt like a bit of a missed opportunity to see what else he could create outside the bounds of established properties. Now, with Sinners, an original vampire movie, he finally returns to telling a wholly new story — and it’s absolutely worth the wait. The performances across the board are phenomenal. The cast nails the 1930s setting, with many adopting accents that feel natural and immersive. Michael B. Jordan shines playing twin brothers, delivering two distinct characters without overexaggeration. Through subtle body language and presence, he makes it immediately clear which brother is on screen — one serious, one carefree.   Daredevil is easily one of the best superhero shows ever made. It really changed how the superhero genre could be portrayed, especially considering how light-hearted the movies were at the time. It was a shame when the show got cancelled after Season 3. Fortunately, it came as a huge relief when Daredevil was finally under the control of Marvel Studios and Disney. Now, Daredevil was a part of the MCU!Unfortunately, MCU movies and shows were starting to vary a lot in terms of quality. The first-ever R-rated Marvel show, Echo, was extremely underwhelming. Additionally, there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama concerning Daredevil: Born Again, such as the original version being a soft reboot that ignored the Netflix series. Karen and Foggy were absent, and even Vanessa was recast. The original showrunner was then fired and replaced by Dario Scardapane. The show underwent a complete creative overhaul and was now pivoting to basically serve as a fourth season. Worries ...

  A very light-hearted, sweet romance between two teens who are both self-conscious in different ways. It has a vibrant art style with colours that truly pop. The animation is quite unique, especially in the way the characters move. This is particularly noticeable in the opening mall scene, but I didn’t mind it. The OST is wonderful, and the characters are all very likeable. The story isn’t particularly memorable, as it delves into a bit of mystery involving a music record they’re trying to find. It features lots of typical anime clichés, including the ending. However, it’s a fine watch if you’re just looking for a relaxing 90-minute romance.

  The Prosecutor is an interesting film, as it’s actually a legal-focused thriller first and foremost, with the martial arts action coming second. I found this blend of genres to work surprisingly well, and I give Donnie props for trying something different. The movie features a phenomenal opening action sequence and an incredible climactic one too. When it comes to the action scenes, you definitely won’t be disappointed. However, the legal aspect—which makes up the majority of the film—is unfortunately a bit lacklustre and predictable. I wish the courtroom scenes had explored more of the complexities of the justice system and delivered more intense drama. It didn’t help that the villain was incredibly one-dimensional. Still, it’s an entertaining action movie overall, and this film does show that Donnie knows how to handle action.
